Rehearsal
Information
(1) REHEARSALS:
The Philharmonic Society of Selangor normally rehearses for its
productions on Mondays from 8.00 pm to 10.00 pm. There will be a short
break during the rehearsal session for a chance to rest and for
announcements to be made. Additional rehearsals
may be scheduled during the weeks leading up to a performance.
Detailed rehearsal information will be provided to members participating
in each production.
General rehearsal guidelines:
- Please arrive in time to be ready to sing by 8.00 pm.
- Please sign-in by initialling on the attendance sheet for every rehearsal
you attend.
- Bring a pencil to all rehearsals.
- Please minimize talking and whispering during rehearsals.
- Please inform your Section Representative (see below) if
you are unable to attend a rehearsal, or if you will be coming late
to a rehearsal.
- You will need black folders for your music for all performances. Black
folders will be distributed to new members prior to a performance. Make
sure your music is securely bound and that the pages turn smoothly.
(2) YOUR SECTION REPRESENTATIVES:
Section representatives will be assigned for each production.
They are your primary contacts and primary sources of information e.g.
rehearsal times, call times, rehearsal venues, performance venues, performance
dates, performance attire. Please inform your Section Representative if you are
unable to make it to any rehearsal, or
if you will be coming late to a rehearsal.
(3) YOUR MUSIC SCORES:
Check
your scores
If you are a member of The Phil participating in a
production, you will be given a copy each of all the relevant
scores. Our Librarian will distribute the relevant scores during rehearsals. When
signing for your scores, please check carefully that the scores actually
taken by you do correspond with the scores you have signed for in
the Librarian's records. Please also take care of your scores and file them
properly. Once you have signed for a particular score, we will not
be able to entertain subsequent requests for a copy or copies of the
same piece (if you have misplaced your copy, see "If You Have
Misplaced Your Copy" below.)
If you have misplaced your copy
If you have misplaced your copy of the music, you may purchase a new
copy from the Librarian, provided that there are available surplus
copies of the piece in question.
No poaching!
Please be considerate and sign for music only if you intend to come
for rehearsals and participate in the performance in question.
