Dear Friend of The Phil,

Imagine a room filled with voices - different in age, background, and story - blending together in
perfect harmony. That’s The Philharmonic Society of Selangor.

Founded in 1958, we are Malaysia’s oldest performing arts society - and proudly, a volunteer-run
one. For 67 years, we’ve brought people together through music, powered by individuals who give
their time, energy, and heart to this community.

But The Phil is more than just singing. Here’s how we make a difference:

1. Supporting Community Partners Through Music
Our concerts raise funds for causes close to home. Over the years, we’ve supported Hospis Malaysia,
Make-A-Wish Malaysia, Befrienders, Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation, Kechara Foundation,
Assunta Palliative Care, Rotary Clubs, Lions Clubs, the National Autism Society of Malaysia, and many
others.

2. Giving the Gift of Music
Our Give a Gift of Music initiative brings performances to students and underserved communities -
many watching a live music performance for the first time.

3. Free Public Music Programmes
We offer inclusive, no-cost opportunities for the public to experience the transformative power of
music - and your support keeps these programmes going.

4. Music Heritage Conservation
Through Lagu-Lagu Tanah Air, we preserve Malaysia’s rich musical legacy by reviving and sharing
songs that might otherwise be lost.
